My body of work partially represents the illusion of a concrete world that humans have created over time through perception and language. Both are tools of the human psyche with constraints, yet remain our only avenues to understand and explain every day life and its surroundings.  The human mind automatically places all material things into defined categories based on perception and tries to describe these observations through the confinement of words. However, material reality is actually impossible to group when broken down into the smallest atomic structures. Even though this categorization is unachievable, as thus far shown by science, all entities and occurrences create a magical, harmonious, and interlocking flow that is nature. My work is also an attempt to capture this magic through paint and relate it to the human implemented boundaries. It is important to note that my work is not meant to precisely portray true reality; rather it stands as an intuitive impression of such an existence if one could be painted.

At subatomic levels, scientists of modern physics have discovered that all matter, regardless of our externally apparent observations, consists of the same subatomic components. At the subatomic level the boundaries classified by human perception disappear into one conglomerate of being consisting of protons, neutrons, electrons, and many other subatomic particles. At the subatomic level, contrasting forces become equally important and dependant upon each other’s existence; truly, nothing can exist without it’s opposite.

The amazing paradox that arises from the fact that any one aspect of reality must rely on at least two forces, two contrasting, opposite forces, is another constituent of my work. The defined lines, shapes and colors in my work represent perception and language, which happen to be false in relation to what is truly reality.  Contrasting, vibrant colors become equally important to the overall flow of the piece, which is similar to the opposite forces true to existence. Again, my work deals with two opposing entities, True vs. False. What appears to be true to our ignorant eye may be false to the true nature of its being. Which leaves you the question, is the physical world merely an illusion?
